These are (an incredibly) healthier version of the popular "Frosty Paws" ice cream treats you can buy in the store. This recipe uses 5 ingredients while the store-bought treats use 31 ingredients, most of which I cannot pronounce. Lola, a beagle-dachshund mix, loves this version much more! Recipe follows.
Ingredients:
1 ripe banana, mashed
8 oz plain yogurt
2T low sodium peanut butter (Lola's humans make their own without salt as dogs' stomachs have trouble processing too much salt)
2 teaspoons honey or agave nectar (or sugar if that's all that is on hand)
few pieces of ice
Directions:
Place all ingredients in blender or food processor and mix until combined. Fill 8 dixie cups or any small paper cup (3oz) up to top and leave about an inch free. Freeze for several hours or overnight before serving the "good dog" treat.
